So many of us struggle to keep the phone ringing and the money coming in. We network, network, network. We give out our business cards, our brochures and we mail out postcards and flyers and we even (gasp!) resort to cold calling when we must.
If your business IS your expertise or if you provide a professional service and need to attract clients, then Market YOU! is for you.
As a service professional, you possess a depth of expertise in your area of work. However, the expertise many of you may NOT possess is
That's why you need Market YOU!.
Market YOU! will give you a clear and important advantage over your competition by showing you a simple formula to help you create and implement a solid plan to position yourself as an expert in your field. As your targeted clients begin to recognize you as the "go-to" expert, you will begin attract more clients; see more consistency to your workflow and stability to your cash flow; all without stressing and struggling; and without having to resort to cold calling.
You aren't sure you're an "EXPERT"?
Think again. An expert is defined as Someone with a high degree of skill or knowledge of a certain subject. Did you notice the definition is not someone that knows more than anyone else, ever-ever-ever, of a certain subject?
So, ask yourself, "Am I someone who has a high degree of skill or knowledge about my field or some aspect of my field?" If you answer "No" you will want to look into getting some more education and/or training. If you answered "Yes", you're an expert! With this program, I will give you a few simple steps you can take to become recognized as the expert.
It is important to recognize the fact that the world of business is expert-driven. It takes discipline and dedication to make the investment in your success. It takes perseverance to maintain a focus on your ultimate goal and not be sidetracked by short term obstacles or impatience. Market YOU! will teach you the simple steps to take your practice from ordinary to extraordinary.
Market YOU!
Each plan is customized, but the following is an outline of the process:
1. When Your Expertise IS Your Business
In this workshop you’ll develop the foundation upon which you will build a successful Market YOU! plan for your business. This foundation work includes:
2. Dynamic Networking
People like to do business with people they know and trust. People refer business to people they know and trust. One of the best ways to get known is through networking. Networking is farming not hunting; farming and cultivating relationships not stalking and bagging new clients.
And, after investing your valuable time, effort and resources to introduce yourself and your services; to develop a rich prospect database and position yourself as an expert in your field ...Now what?
Staying in contact with and following up with your clients, prospective clients, colleagues and referral partners is the most important marketing action you can take to increase your success. If you don't stay in touch you will fall off the radar. It's the old adage, Out of sight Out of mind. and there is no other situation where this applies to more than to self-promotion and sales. In this workshop we'll talk about the components of a successful stay-in-touch campaign and then you'll begin to design and implement a campaign that fits your prospect and client contact needs.
We'll cover important networking skills, different networking opportunities that are out there and what it means to network effectively and dynamically. You'll also create a networking action plan to begin putting into place over the coming two weeks. We'll also talk about the importance of a consistent follow up strategy to capitalize on your important networking efforts. You'll report back to the group on your experiences and results.
3. Get Published and Get Speaking
Writing articles for publication, in print or for the web, is one of the first and most important steps to positioning yourself as an expert. We'll cover article ideas, how to get from 'idea' to 'published' and ways to use your articles in self-promotion.
Equally important - yet unlike writing, speaking puts you eye-to-eye with your audience up close and personal. You are perceived to be an expert by simply standing at the front of the room. Speaking engagements give immediate feedback and recognition. Your credibility is established instantly; the impression you make speaking is powerful.
Before leaving this workshop you'll have an outline prepared for an article you'll write. We'll also talk about how to find publications to approach, how to go about getting your article published as well as how to find speaking opportunities, how to write an effective talk and how to deliver a successful speech that positions you as an expert and how to LOVE doing it!
4. Net-World - 1.0.1. to 2.0
Does a Service Professional Need a Website? In a word, “yes”. In a sentence, “If you're not on the web, you don't exist”. This is with very few exceptions. While you don't exist, have no doubt your competitors do.
What do you want your website to do for your business - today and tomorrow? Is it a static brochure site? Will you want to add pictures and change copy? Do you want clients to be able to communicate with you via your site? .... Next, once someone finds their way to your Home Page, then what do you want them to do? Read the next section? Call you? Sign up for your newsletter?
We'll also talk about how to use your website and the vast e-space and how it can work for you. You'll leave the workshop with a list of local and web-based resources to help you create the most effective and profitable website and e-strategy for your business goals.
5. Dysfunctional Selling -vs- Helping Your Client Succeed.
Sales gets a bad wrap. It's been referred to as the world's 2nd oldest profession... sometimes confused with the first. That's why we all have such a phobia about "selling". Selling ourselves only compounds that fear. In this workshop we'll talk about some of the reasons this dysfunctional relationship between buyer and seller has evolved, the paradigm shifts that must take place and some practical things you can do ...and help your clients do to end this cycle.
It's not acceptable - and you won't be successful getting your clients to buy from you. You must help your clients succeed. If not, you both lose. We'll talk about keeping your discussions off of the solution and on the value you deliver; uncovering your client's real problems and issues to better help you help them.
6. Market YOU! - Making It Happen.
The information we cover and the work we do in the previous 5 workshops is just the beginning. Principals, strategies, skills and processes are covered and, while critical to your success, you have to do something with it all.
This final workshop in the first Market YOU! series will address ways to get started and keep your self-promotion engine running. We'll talk about how to address and then get over the hurdles along the way including ways you may be actually hindering your own success; poor time management, psychological self-limitations, need for skill improvement, and other important aspects to making your business a success.
Market YOU! isn't for everyone. This is a program for those who want to make things happen in their business and are willing to do the work, share insights and participate.
